My diverse educational and professional background have prepared me to be a uniquely effective teacher. At the age of 16, I was immersed in a different language and culture as an exchange student in Costa Rica. After high school graduation, I pursued a career in aviation and obtained my B.S. in Aeronautical Science as well as various pilot licenses. Next, I built upon my minor in Psychology and earned my M.S. in Mental Health Counseling along with my Licensed Professional Counselor certificate. Finally, I transfered my efforts to the field of education. I completed a nondegree graduate level program (30 credits) in Special Education through the University of Georgia.

After nine years of teaching elementary school, I transitioned to the high school level to teach Spanish I and II. In my current position, my enthusiasm for Spanish shines through as I utilize multiple technological resources and engaging teaching strategies to reach my students. I enjoy attending annual conferences and other professional development training to continuously improve my skills. My students complete assignments which allow for practicing the target language, receiving regular feedback on individual progress, and developing 21st century skills.

On the weekends, I wake up early, log on to my computer, and teach English to children across the world in China.  I have taught many of the same students for over a year now and it is rewarding to see their progress!

My husband, Bob, and I have four children, Noah (19), Zach (16), Eden (16), and Mya (11).  We also have a spoiled and adored Italian greyhound/Chihuahua mix, Siesta.
